How can I make a BOOK Icon for Websters Dictionary Internet Explorer Page URL?

Antoinette

This may not be a Windows XP question. But I have been looking at the
google search engine for two days to learn HOW to make a BOOK ICON on
my desk top for the Websters Dictionary Page (URL)
I see WHERE in Windows\System32\Shell32.dll there are lots of icons BUT
NO BOOK ones! So if I MAKE a picture with a .ico "suffix" HOW do I get
it IN that .dll file???

Can anyone help me? Or direct me where to go find help on this issue? I
did a search on ALL the newsgroups for icons and nothing came up.

Thank you,
Antoinette

Aloha Rob YES I did this.
I have a book image and have changed it to an .ico file.
But don't know HOW to put it someplace so I can bring it up
to work as a desktop icon!

All of my desktop icons are located in C:\WINDOWS\/System32\Shell32
but it is a .dll file! So HOW do I get the NEW icon INTO that .dll file? So
it can be
used??

Thank you,
Antoinette

It does not need to be located in the .dll file. Right-click the
desktop shortcut, select Properties, then Change Icon, then Browse to
your .ico file.

(don't live at a com or net - address listed is altered)

It doesn't matter WHERE I locate the .ico file? OH I thought it had to be in
and a part of that .dll file that had all the other icon files for XP.
I will try that. Thank you,
Antoinette

That's correct.

That's not even the file that has all the other icons for XP.
There are many icons on your computer, scattered all around . For
example, almost every exe file has one, and there's a big
collection at \windows\system32\moreicons.dll
