How can I fix Stop errors?

Yvonne Evans

I was wondering if someone could help me with Stop errors. They just about
happen every day.

1. One of these Stop errors appear as such:

- check with hardware vendor for any BIOS updates
- something about memory caching and shadowing

"STOP Ox0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xF64831F6, 0xED64C080. 0x00000000) ***
ALCXWDM.SYS
Address F64831F6 base @ F6423000 Datestamp 3ea80730"

Then it says it's going to dump physical memory and says dump complete.

2. A second error is the same but the bracketed numbers appear as such:

"(0xC0000005, 0xF6c641F6, 0xEDA90080, 0x00000000)"

4. I also got another stop error last night and I shut down my computer
before realizing I should have written all the information down. If I
recall correctly it was something to do with 'bad pay pooler' or something
along those lines

I have several questions in relation to this problem:

a) I downloaded and tried two programs - Registry First Aid and Registry
Mechanic - - is any of these two programs causing the Stop errors? I just
let these programs do their thing and accept what both tell me. Is that a
mistake?
b) What else could be causing these errors?
c) What do I do to fix them?
d) I also bought a USB Kingston 512 MB Flash Drive (at Future Shop here in
Canada). Some of these Stop errors seem to be happening since I've bought
this Flash Drive.

General STOP Error Troubleshooting Guide
http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

The first error is a problem with the driver for your on-board sound chip.
You need to visit the either the system manufacturer's or the motherboard
manufacturer's site and download an updated driver. Alternatively, the
driver can be found here www.viaarena.com (though you will need the
motherboard manual to identify which driver you require - you've not given
any information about your system so I cannot assist you further).

The last error is related to the first two - it's BAD_POOL_CALLER and is
also a symptom of an outdated driver. It's nothing to do with the flash
drive. I have the same drive - and it's not causing me any problems.

If you need assistance with driver identification, post back.
