Hi Forrest :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Clear History

Tools>Internet Options>General tab
In the Number of days to keep History window, set it to zero

Then on General tab > Click the Clear History tab
Click Delete Files tab
Click Delete Cookies tab
Click Apply

or.....

To delete the History folder and index.dat (XP)
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

You may need to log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username>
folder and reboot. (or log on as another user that has Administrator
privileges)
Example: "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"

Delete History folder manually:
See: How To Delete the Internet Explorer Temporary Internet Files:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

If still no joy, then your History folder may be corrupted -

or..................

To create a new History Folder
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_8.htm#deltree
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm (XP systems)

Or try installing TweakUI.
http://www.aumha.org/freeware/freeware.php#tweakui
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For XP follow the instructions at Mike Burgess' site as the process and
paths differ from W98:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
To delete the History folder and index.dat (XP)
Log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username> folder and reboot.
(or log on as another user that has Administrator privileges)
and......
For W98 (W98se) proceed as follows as per Sandi's site:
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_8.htm#deltree
1) Start>Shutdown>Re-start in MS-DOS mode
2) Wait for Mouse to be recognized, and for the system to stabilize.
3) At the prompt of C:\> type the words: "Deltree History" (Note: there is
a space between the two. Do not use any " quotation marks)
5) press enter
6) A confirmation request appears (Y/N)
7) Type: "Y" and press enter (no quotation marks)
8) Another prompt will appear (Y/N)
9) Type: "Y" and press enter.
10) Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to close out of the DOS session and to re-boot in
normal mode.
The same process may be followed for your Temporary Internet Files as well.
This will create a new Index.dat file free of corruption and sized at 32 KB.
In that case the command line to use will be "Deltree Tempor~1"
Proceed slowly and carefully, noting that each command and instruction is
followed.
If you've been using any other method of cleaning files and stuff out of
the Content.IE5 folder other than the use of IE Options>delete files>delete
all off-line content> OK>OK out. Stop doing that. The aforementioned
process of using IE Options is the only safe and prescribed way of
cleaning. (other than the DOS Deltree command)
also.....
History problems can be caused by McAfee AntiVirus.
If you disable the "Active X Controls" filter under the Internet
Filters in VirusScan the IE History should work properly.
If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.
Hope this helps
Items appearing in the Address Bar may be Tped URLs, which are not cleared
by moscommon methods of clearing History. Typed URLs can be cleared by
several methods, including editing the registry, using the Taskbar Clear
History function, or running a special-purpose program.
One such program is EditURLs, available free from
http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/index.htm. This program allows you to
remove the entries one at a time, or all at once.
The Taskbar Clear History function is the most drastic. It will clear
Typed URLs and several other system history lists, including the Run
history. How you access it depends on your Windows version and
configuration options.
Editing the registry isn't for everyone, but there are scripts available
that will make doing so painless and pretty much foolproof. They
typically delete all rather than selected entries.
