How can I default to excel rather than Microsoft Graph?

I want to default all the charts I make in PowerPoint to excel rather than
Microsfot graph automatically opening. Is this possible? I find Graph to be
very limiting and most clients use excel for spreadsheets anyways so I want
to keep the programs consistant.
 
You would have to build VBA code/macro.add-in to do this. PPT won't do it
natively.

How would I go about doing this. I am a graphic designer and I work on a Mac.
Is it still possible?
