Excel Graphs in PPT

Hello. I am developing training on embedding Excel graphs in PowerPoint. The
goal is to use full on Excel as the source, to avoid the limitations of
native MS Graph in PPT. In the source Excel, the graph is on a dedicated
graph worksheet, which is the first worksheet in the work book (recommended,
as I understand it). I have tried both:

1) Copying this sheet and pasting it into PPT via Edit>Paste Special>Paste
As>Microsoft Excel Chart Object and

2) From within PPT, using Insert>Object>Create From File and browsing to the
desired Excel file

Each appears to bring in the desired graph, but when either Edit or Open are
invoked from the right click menu for the graph, after edits are done the
graphs explode to a larger size. Sometimes this is reflected on the Size tab
of the Format Object dialog, sometimes it is not. Can anyone recomment a
means of avoiding the auto resizing problem?

Thanks,
Will

Will, I literally do millions of XL charts imported into PPT, all
programatically of course, each each. I never have these problems,
although I am aware of the problem.

The issue seems to be driven by the video drivers on the computers.
I'd bet lunch that your machines are drive by network folks who image
them from an old image that has outdated video drivers.

My advice would be to work hard at one machine and update all drivers
carefully and see if this still happens. Then tell the Network Admins
that they actually have to do some real work for a change.

Echo Swinford will also pop in here shortly and give you here
perceptions on this. Echo is our MVP driver of driver issues. Echo,
over to you.

Wow, this isn't something I've seen. Then again, I don't pull that many
Excel charts into PPT.

Are you setting your chart sheets to 100% view before copying the graphs?
You might try that. And make sure they're set back to 100% view when you
close out of the Excel workbook.

You can also take a look at http://www.echosvoice.com/charts.htm, although
I'm not sure anything there will help. I think Brian might be onto somethng
with the video drivers, though.
