Hotmail, Windows Update, & MSN mess. all not working

For nearly two weeks, I have not been able to access my
hotmail account. I type in my password, press Sign In,
and the Page Cannot Be Displayed error comes up. I cannot
sign in to the messenger, and when I use Windows Update,
it says "Windows Update has encountered an error and
cannot display the requested page."

I've tried many different things, from virus scans to
spyware scans, erasing cookies and temp. Internet files,
and toggling the firewall off and on. Nothing works. I've
been to two other support forums, and they have not
figured out the problem, either.

My Hotmail account and Windows Update works on other
computers (including one connected to my computer), so it
must be some small things either missing or changed on my
computer that is to blame.

Try opening internet options, delete cookies, delete files chk the box,"delet
all off-line files",also make sure that in the programs tab the selections are correct
Then close-out,go to run, type:%Temp% In the new window, edit, select all, delete all
close out, empty recycle bin.Restart computer, back on desktop,go to microsoft home
click on windows update.MSN messenger is really designed to work in MSN Explore
(a dial-up isp),you should switch back and reinstall 4.7 for xp,theres a download,typ
in search at microsoft:Add In For Windows Messenger This gives 4.7,MSN Messenge
capabilities

Thanks, but I've already tried deleting all the cookies
and temp files. Didn't work then; tried it again, still
didn't work. And, again, going to the Windows Update
section gives me an error, "Windows Update has
encountered an error and cannot display the requested
page. ... error number (0x800C0005)."

I couldn't find v4.7, only v4.6 and earlier. Downloaded
it, installed it (again), but didn't change a thing.

Actually, I'm not that concerned with getting the
messenger to work again; really, I could do without it,
but I do want to be able to use hotmail and Windows
Update again.

In Internet Explorer -
1. Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
2. Scroll down to the Security Settings.
3. Make sure that the two boxes are checked that say
"Enable SSL 2" or "Enable SSL 3".
Try your secure sites.

Another thing you can try is:

I've looked at all the articles (some of them before I
came here), done what they say, and still it doesn't fix
anything. It seems like I've broken it beyond repair.
