HOTMAIL / "SEND" FUNCTION SENDING BLANK MATTER

Hi,

Another problem today with hotmail.

I type a letter and the letter goes out blank without any matter. The
same goes for jokes forwarded to friends. All pages are blank. It is
self erasing matter. Any change one makes to profile etc is not
taking.

Hotmail has recently reformatted or changed the appearance of their
site. Maybe this is the reason. Has anybody else had the same problem?

I am working in hotmail and also using MSN messenger function.

I created an new email address in hotmail and it works fine.

I cannot record changes, etc or send mail out from hotmail, without
matter being deleted.

an after thought. I used some program called "ad-aware" recently,
which the "angel" Kim Komando recomended. It might have deleted some
files.

Ad-aware is a well-respected program that removes spyware. I would
suggest you scan your computer with a current (post-2002 version using
updated definitions) antivirus program. I don't understand the quotes
around "angel", but Kim Komando isn't the only tech who routinely
suggests removing spyware with Ad-aware and Spybot Search & Destroy. We
all do. Literally millions of people use those programs without
problems, so if you have a problem, it may be related to spyware or
viruses, but probably not directly to the use of Ad-aware.

Are you talkin' to me? Having not included previous message in your reply,
no one had any idea what you're talking about?

Disable *all* third-party applications (AV, "system" tools, pop-up/ad
blockers, anti-spam/mail filters [e.g., Magic Mail Monitor].

You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each and every
use, even "right out of the box". But even then, they can't catch
everything. HijackThis
(http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred
tool to use these days. It will help to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware. **Post your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/,
not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

Go into the Tools menu on the Compose tab and disable Rich Text. They
seem to have pooched the HTML email writing function, but plain text
is working fine. I'm sure that you can live without emoticons until
they figure this mess out ;)

I did that on the old hotmail address and problem still persists. On
recently newly created hotmail account. Your solution works. Both
hotmail accounts still have problems.

Further to my previous message below. I get error message something to
the effect "there is error in displaying page properly or functioning
properly" Object does not support this property or method.

All connected with personal signature option.

Hotmail is a secure site, requiring that your computer be able to negotiate
SSL protocols when logging in, so any of these third-party applications may
be interfering (as well as hijackware): anti-virus, firewall, anti-spam
tools, "system" tools (NSW, NIS, anything by McAfee). The best approach
would be to disable all of them and, assuming Hotmail then works properly,
re-enable each application in turn, by itself with no others running, to see
which one or which combination is causing the problem. If the machines are
on a network, that's another area to consider when troubleshooting.

Hi all,

Last time I am going to post on this tiresome subject.

I d\l 5.6 Scripting Engine as per P.J.Bear's recommendation. It didn't
help any.

Prior to that, I discovered using the "REFRESH" icon made hotmail"
SEND" and tool bar function work properly. Hotmail now works.

I also sent a copy of message to "sent message" folder. To translate
the gibberish into readable material, I had to use the "REFRESH" icon
again.

Got it working, but not perfectly. I can live without hotmail, as I
have other email addresses.

I wonder if d\l Netscape navigator would solve the problem, as I
cannot reinstall mse from windows update. I am not that computer savy
and do not want to play around for the sake of hotmail and really have
a problem.

Frankly I am disappointed by Dell's and Microsoft's lack of help with
this problem.

Hotmail working normally as of this time.

Problem fixed by support@hotmail. I HOPE.

No more replies to posting necessary.
