Hotmail certification

I called DELL for tech support this morning as I woke up to find a window on
my screen which indicated that my computer had been locked. I had no way of
unlocking this. DELL had me open up my hard drive and reset something in
order to correct the problem. This worked, but since then, I have been unable
to access my Hotmail or MSN Messenger - the former displays a message
indicating that the certificate has expired - the latter simply won't let me
sign in. I did a system restore, and managed to get into where I needed to
accept the Hotmail certificate as valid. I thought that once I did this, the
system would recognize it as valid, but no go. I may not be explaining this
as well as I need to. Please help if you can.

Most likely your system time is wrong. Double-click the time shown in the
bottom right-hand corner of the screen and verify what date you have. If the
date is off from today your computer can reject the certificate.

I can't quite make out what went wrong with the computer, nor what Dell had
you do, but it sounds quite like asking someone to replace the engine because
the car ran out of fuel.

Regarding the date/time - you are right. My date has defaulted to Sept 2005!
I'll look at that first, but it looks as thought I've contracted something -
I ran a security check and discovered 'at least one known virus or Trojan
horse'
First things first!
Thanks Jesper.
