hotmail accounts

I want to use windows mail on Vista
I have a 2 hotmail accounts that I pay for to microsoft.
It is unbelievable that they will not let me use hotmail on vista.
is there a way around this?
I would cancel my hotmail except that I have had the accounts so long and
printed material etc.
I also have a small un paid for hotmail account that I also want to use.
Is there any hope for that one?
Why would microsoft do that to their customers?

Windows Mail does not support connections that use the HTTP protocol,
such as Hotmail.

You may want to download and install Windows Live Mail, which supports
Hotmail accounts as well as the kind of accounts Windows Mail can
access.

If they are POP3 Hotmail accounts follow their instructions for setting up
Windows Mail.
