Hotmail account freezes internet explorer

I am having a problem using my hotmail email account. When I go to the
account and click on mail the computer either freezes here or will go to the
mail and freeze there. I am unable to read the mail.

Any suggestions as to fix this annoyance would be appreciated.

I installed the latest version of windows messenger 6.2 (SP2 is installed)
Unfortunately this does not seem to have fixed the problem. When I go to
hotmail I can see the list of emails but I cannot open any of them. Internet
explorer freezes and I have to do a control/alt/delete .

If you can suggest any other things I could try I would appreciate any tips
you might have.
