dns error in Hotmail

I am having trouble in Hotmail, when I click on an email sometimes my
computer freezes and there is a dns error at the bottom of the page. also
sometimes when in hotmail my computer goes to the network diagnostic page and
quite often freezes in that as well and I have to reset and restart. I have
looked at microsoft articles on this problem but they are too difficult to
understand. I am considering some sort of registry cleaner but do not know
what is safe and what isnt. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't use a registry cleaner. None of them are safe; they can cause more
problems than they solve.

When did this problem start? If recent have you tried a system restore to a
point before the problem occurred? What changes occurred in the system from
the time things worked and now? Is the system clean of malware? How do you
check for that?

1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.
For Malwares download both these software:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

Open a run command and type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]

ipconfig /renew click [OK]

netsh winsock reset click [OK]
Reboot your computer and see if you will be able to establish connection.

Try to Run Disk Cleanup and defrag in safe Mode.
If still try to check the NIC in the Device Manager is working okay and also
check for any error message in the event Viewer, to access the Event Viewer
do the following:
Open a run command and type in:
eventvwr.msc click [OK]
and there click on each of these and look in the Right Pane/Window for error
and double click it to get more info and you can copy and paste in your next

IE version? Is this a sudden, new problem or an ongoing one?

Do NOT run a Registry cleaner!

I am using IE 7 I really believe the problem started after installing trend
pc cillin internet security 2007 never had any trouble with 2006 version. I
am only using the recommended security features. My ping diagnosis on
network diagnostics always fails when trend it on but passes if i disable it.
Have been onto trend a lot but i honestly dont think they have an answer. I
have just done what nass told me to do so hopefully this will stop the
problem.

X-post to IE General

Was Trend Micro Internet Security (TMIS) 2007 installed when you installed
IE7?

Did you disable all TMIS (2007 or 2006) components before installing IE7?
If not, you may have a horked install of IE7. I suggest that you...

1. Uninstall IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6) per
http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html

2. Uninstall all toolbars

3. Reinstall IE7 per http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install,
and using http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx as the
installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update.

Hi Margie,
That mean you have a bad Graphic Driver or Card try to Download the latest
driver for your Graphic Card from ATI web site and then Go to the Device
Manager and uninstall the Card then Reboot and windows will detect your Card
and ask you what you want to do Let windows Install from the selected list or
you have the Driver/Software on a Disk?, select I have a Disk and insert your
CD/DVD or Floppy to install the Driver for the Graphic card.
Also, since you said that it came back that mean the steps done the trick,
but for some reason your system may be infected with a virus or you need to
Run the System File Checker to repair any damaged Files/Folders.

I will uninstall PC-Cillin for now and Install this AVG and run a scan:
Download and install after installing this software and
update then run a scan in both safe mode and normal:

I am having trouble in Hotmail, when I click on an email sometimes my
computer freezes and there is a dns error at the bottom of the page. also
sometimes when in hotmail my computer goes to the network diagnostic page and
quite often freezes in that as well and I have to reset and restart. I have
looked at microsoft articles on this problem but they are too difficult to
understand. I am considering some sort of registry cleaner but do not know
what is safe and what isnt. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Margie,
That mean you have a bad Graphic Driver or Card try to Download the latest
driver for your Graphic Card from ATI web site and then Go to the Device
Manager and uninstall the Card then Reboot and windows will detect your Card
and ask you what you want to do Let windows Install from the selected list or
you have the Driver/Software on a Disk?, select I have a Disk and insert your
CD/DVD or Floppy to install the Driver for the Graphic card.
Also, since you said that it came back that mean the steps done the trick,
but for some reason your system may be infected with a virus or you need to
Run the System File Checker to repair any damaged Files/Folders.

I will uninstall PC-Cillin for now and Install this AVG and run a scan:
Download and install after installing this software and
update then run a scan in both safe mode and normal:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5

Here are some info about ATI:
ATI Technologies Graphics CARD, TRY TO RUN IT WITHOUT THE catalyst Control
Centre

Do you have Ati radeon x1600pro and as driver catalyst 6.3?.

CLI.Component.Runtime lets me assume that it is connected with the driver
and located in this path:
C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies \ ATI.ACE \ cli.exe

updates the Video Driver:
Catalyst® Release Note Version 6.4
http://www2.ati.com/relnotes/catalyst_64_release_notes.html
http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=67...

Or you can Remove it if you are sure is the culprit from Add/Remove programs.

Download ATI video card driver from their web for your Graphic card Specs.
