Hotfix 828026 - Problems installing!!

I uninstalled 828026 as it was indicating an incorrect
size in Add/Remove.

Windows Update did NOT detect that it was missing, so I
downloaded 828026 from here........

........choosing to Open rather than Save it.

It did its thing, though it never said that the
Installation was successful, only that the Installation
Wizard had completed successfully. When I clicked OK, the
window closed. I was not prompted to Restart.

There is no sign of 828026 in Add/Remove nor in C:Windows
NT/Uninstall.

Has it installed?

I have had this problem before. Reinstalling Hotfixes and
there being no sign of them.

Though it too appears in Add/Remove with a fox's head
icon, instead of the usual monitor icon, and it had a

3. Since Windows Update was still not listing it for
download, I checked in Regedit and discovered an 828026
folder there. I deleted this.

4. I then ran a Seach of the C: drive for 828026. All
clear.

5. So, I downloaded 828026 and installed it. No problem.
(By the way, the download and installation was done only
after going to Run/msconfig and switching off everything
except MSFT stuff and the modem software. So, no
conflicts. I always do this.)

However, it is still not listed in Add/Remove. Nor is
QFECHECK listing it.

Yet, it is back in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/microsoft/updates/windows
media player.

So, I am VERY confused! Do I have it installed or not?

I should have mentioned in my last reply, that 828026 is
not listed in C:Windows/NTUninstall either.

So, not in Add/Remove, QFECHECK or NTUninstall, but is
listed in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/windows/updates/windows media
player.

Weird!

This is driving me nuts! I think I've done everything
correctly.

Any help appreciated.
