host name could not be resolved

Hello

When I attempt to use Remote Assistance we can
communicate through windows messenger or msn messenger
but when I attempt to use Remote Assistance with my mom
who lives in an assisted living facility that has
wireless access through a facility system I get the
following message:

"Remote Assistance connection could not be established
because the remote host name could not be resolved.
Please try again."

We have attempted to just retry but always get the same
message. I can use remote assistance with others but not
with my mom. Could it have something to do with their
network setup?

Thanks for you help.

Hi Gerry,

It likely has everything to do with their network setup, if they're smart.
They would need to open a port (3389) for you to access the machine using
remote assistance.

Stuck!

I am having the same problem with my parent's PC. They
are NOT on a network, however. They can control my
machine with no problems using Remote Assistance.
However, when they extend the invitation to me (so that I
can help THEM), I get the "Remote Assistance connection
could not be established because the remote host name
could not be resolved. Please try again." Any advice
would be appreciated!
