Hi Chuck

I hope you didn't give up on me ... you have been very helpful so far. I
posted the "browstat" files from both PC's as you requested, on the 12 Feb
but didn't hear back from you.

Any help you can offer would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks, Eva

Eva,

Sorry about that. Sometimes I read posts, forget that I've read them, and still
depend upon the unread indicator in my newsreader to tell me what to read next.
Thanks for following up.

OK, where were we?

You have a LAN, with 2 computers, connected by a hub. Each computer has their
own internet service, with individual dynamic ip addresses assigned by the ISP.
In no case are the ip addresses guaranteed to place the two computers on the
same subnet, so a LAN using NetBIOS Over TCP/IP is not a good solution here.

Your original reported problem was the well known "Logon Failure - The user has
not been granted the requested logon type at this computer", the solution for
which was provided by other helpers here.

After resolving the initial problem, you reported PC1 reporting "PC2 is not
accessible ... access denied...", asymmetrical (only one computer of the pair
having the problem), another well known issue. In order to diagnose the
problem, I instructed you to remove IPX/SPX and IPV6, which you did.

The latter problem, "PC2 is not accessible ... access denied...", asymmetrical,
is one which is typically caused by a master browser conflict. Having stopped
the browser on PC2, running "browstat status" commands on the two computers now
reveals a possibly symmetrical situation where neither computer is aware of each
other.

So where are we in the real world? Can PC2 still access resources on PC1? Or
has the removal of IPX/SPX completely removed resource sharing (which is what I
would hope would happen, but of course not for such a long time).

I suspect that continued work on this situation might be enhanced by use of
email or IM, if you would like to use either.
