Home network problem

C

Confused User

I have two computers on a home network running through a router. Both
computers are running xp home sp1. Both computers can connect to the
internet just fine but one of the computers is having trouble accessing the
network. On one, I can open explorer and go to "My network places" and I can
see that computer and the other computer listed, but I cannot access the
other computer.

On the other computer, when I try the same thing, it gets to "My Network
Places\Entire Network\Microsoft Windows Network" I click on that, to bring
up MSHOME and it runs for a while before it finally shows up, then when I
click on that, it says that mshome is not accessible and that I should talk
to the admin.

I have run the network setup wizard on both computers and added both IP
addresses to the firewalls running on both computers. I have also turned off
the firewall that comes with windows. I would sure appreciate a solution to
this problem.

I have pretty much the same problem so if you ever find a fix let me know.
I've tried everything I could think of with no luck.

Hi,

On your primary computer, try restarting the browse master, on the other
computer turn off the browse master. It should be located in the admin
tools> services. That might solve the problem.

I know this takes some time but just to let you know I was able to fix my
similar problem by: 1 - backup your files you want to keep. 2 - do a full
install with format and setup your network. 3 - Install antivirus then
spyware and adware protection. 4 - install SP! or 2. It takes some time but
it solved my problem
