Download the utility CWshredder:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

Unzip - close *all* instances of IE & OE, hit the executable and
follow
the prompts.

You can also download Hijack This from here:

http://www.mjc1.com/files/merijn/hijackthis.exe

Go here:
http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/

For instructions on how to use it; you have to post the log it
produces so experts tell you what is good and what is malware

Try downloading, installing and updating the
spyware removers from the links below. Run both of them.

Spybot S&D

If these don't correct the problem, then get yourself a copy of
BHODemon, available at
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm .

It does not need installing - simply unzip and run the EXE program. It
is easy to use. It will find the hijackware DLL files, and give you
the ability to disable them.

Hope this helps.

I too am just now having the same problem as below. I installd SBC
Yahoo DSL and a Linksys router. In the process, someone---don't know
who---"upgraded" IE from 5.x to 6.0. I didn't ask for that to
happen...but they did it anyway. I now also see that when I go in and
change the default "home" page, it holds as long as IE is open. But
when I close it, then open it after restarting the machine, I'm back
to "C:\Windows\homepage.htm" This is a drag.
Naturally, with the DSL line I thought I'd check out some porn
sites, so I'm assuming someone hijacked my browser from one of those
sites. Question is, what's the "virus," and how do I get rid of it?
I'm not seeing anything weird in the MSCONFIG Startup tab, and
nothing in the Windows startup folders or anywhere else. Nothing in
the "Run" or "Run Once" either. Checked Win.ini for the LOAD= and RUN=
lines, and they're blank. I'm stumped. Ideas would be
well-appreciated.
