Home Broadband & DUN Connection to Run Login Script

T

Tim G \(UK\)

I've got a fully working PPTP/L2TP VPN working for people
at work, but an incresing number are using Broadband
connections at home.

When the logon prompt appears I can configure an automated
DUN and VPN connection (which runs the login script), but
I can see no method of using the same automatic method of
VPN over a broadband link.

I've placed a VPN shortcut on the desktop, but when
connected a) no login script runs (e.g. no network
drives), b) network share connections ask for login
details again and c) MS Outlook asks for login details
again

There must be people who has experienced this, but
Microsoft's knowledge base has no articles that help.

It shouldn't make much difference. With a broadband connection, you do
not have to use the "dial another connection first" option, because the
Internet connection already exists. But you should be a able to use an
automated process to just establish the VPN. It should be easier - one less
step!

Tim,

Sounds familiar to my posted question immediately below
yours "Setup up a PPTP VPN connection on Win2K Pro". I've
experienced problems and can't seem to get any closer to a
solution. If this works please let us know as Bill Grant
may be on the right path !!

Cheers

I understand that Bill, its this automative process I need
to resolve. Once the user has logged do I run a batch file
or KixTart script to connect drives etc or is there a
better way to automate this process that I've not seen ?

Tim
