Slow VPN connection over broadband

Hi all,

I work in Desktop support for a large company in Massachusetts. I
recently setup about 12 of the managers to access the network remotely
with VPN. Most of the managers are setup as follows: They each have
an IBM T30 running windows 2000. They are connecting to the office
from home with Comcast Home broadband using a Linksys BEFSX41 router.
All using Cisco VPN Client 3.6.

This setup works great. Response is great, and none of them have any
issues accessing network resources.

However, I have one manager having major issues. Comcast is not
available in here area, so she is using Adelphia Powerlink service
(cable) and connecting through a Netgear MR814v2 Wireless router. She
is able to reach the internet no problem and download speeds are good.
This all changes after she logs into our VPN. She is able to log
onto the VPN just fine, but the system crawls to a halt after that.
Opening a network drive takes in excess of 15 minutes. The connection
is so slow that Lotus Notes times-out and she cannot access her
e-mail. The system is completely unusable.

I'm not familiar with Adelphia as an ISP, and I've never worked with
Netgears equipment before. So does any one know if there are any
compatibility issues sing vpn with this router or service? Anything I
may be over looking? (Special settings in the router?) Any advise is
welcome at this time.
Thanks
Jim

Hey Jim

i've got the Netgear at home as well, and I've got
no problems using VPN throu this router.
But check if you can make her an Fireware upgrade to her router.
There was an issue with the VPN-pass-throu thing.
And the new firmware will resolve it.

Good luck

Christian
