History in IE

I have gone into internet properties and cleared history, deleted cookies,
and deleted files under the general tab. When I open up ie and start typing
in an address it is auto filling it anyways. There is 4 specific web address
that always show up that I have visited in the past. I want to have the
autocomplete capability but nothing should be autofilling after I just
cleared the history. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

JP, it might be helpful if you would tell us the four addresses that do not
clear from History. They may have something to do with malware.

Tools | Internet Options | Content | Auto Complete. Make your
choices there.

Autocomplete http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers4.htm#autocomplete and
History http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers4.htm#history are two different
things, JP.

Any URL in Favorites will persist in Address Bar dropdown after deleting
History.

I choose clear forms and passwords from the auto complete settings but i
want to leave a check next to web addresses so they show up when I need them.
I just dont want these ghost addresses showing up any more.

Are the four ghost addresses in your Favorites?
According to what PA Bear said, Favorites can still show in the Address bar.
