Highlighting not saved!?

I am using Word 2007.

When I use the highlighter to highlight bits of the document, then this
doesn't seem to be saved - when I close and re-open the document the
highlighting is gone.

where has it gone?!!

Are you saving the document when you close it?

Is this happening with all documents, or just that one?

Can you describe exactly how you're highlighting the bits?
