Highlight _ Delete

How do I set my keyboard so that I can delete text by highlighting it, then
inputting text? In other words, when I want to change the text in an area, I
want to be able to highlight it and continue writing without having to press
delete.

In Tools > Options > Edit, check the box for "Typing replaces selection".
Since this is the default setting, it's a mystery how it got unchecked...

In Word, click on Tools | Options | Edit | check the "Typing replaces
selection" box | OK.

Thanks for asking this question! I had the same thing happen and am not sure
how the default was changed, but am so glad its fixed! You never realize how
much you use a feature until its not available anymore!
