high lsass.exe and exchange 2000

we are in a seven site, single ad domain environment with
exchange 2000 installed. I notice on my global catalog
server in our main site (3 dc's with one gc and four
exchange servers) has very high lsass.exe memory
utilization. The only fix we found was to restart out GC
every month or so. We have SP4 on all servers and I've
only been able to find the following article from
Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=811173

Has anyone experienced this before?

I would recommend that you make the following changes to your "Main Site
with the 3 DC's"

DC/GC1= FSMO Roles PDC,RID
DC2 = FSMO Role: Infrastructure
DC/GC2 = FSMO Roles: Schema, DNC

Exchange 200x I think is recommended to have a dedicated GC for every 4
Processors Running Exchange. This recommendation changes a lot.

There is also a post SP4 hotfix for LSASS issues you might want to apply to
your DC's. I am searching for the KB now.
