Multiple domains

our company is growing quite fast and as a result we found that we have need
of segregated domains with sperate exchange servers. what i am trying to do
in a lab enviroment (before i go live) is to create 1 parent domain with a
child domain. under ADSS i can see both domain controllers under the
default-first-site-name. but only my parent dc server is a GC, the child dc
server is not. My question is if i install exchange 2k in my child domain
does the dc server need to be a GC. and how would i set up mail routing to go
from corp.com to sales.corp.com. my goal is to utilize AD in the parent
domain to administer the child domain. is this at all possible?

Remember Exchange is a heavy GC user. So, if we are talking about 2 domains
in diferents sites, yes, its very important to keep one GC closer Exchange.
