setting up child domain in w2k3

T

Tim Moor

dear w2k3 gurus,
i have a small lab with one dc. this dc also holds dns for my lab.local
domain. i'd like to create a child domain (west.lab.local). which are the
basic steps to do that. i've already added a member server to lab.local
which i'd like to promote as dc for the child domain.

scenario 1: the parent domain (lab.local) should be responsible for name
resolution for the whole name-space (lab.local + west.lab.local).

scenario 2: the new child domain should be responsible for its own
namespace.

thank you very much
tim

Have you run DCPROMO yet? After ensuring your DNS server for the root
domain is functioning properly, create a new child zone for the child domain
and run DCPROMO - pointing the new server's resolver (DNS Client) at the
current DNS server. Create a child domain ...
