Hide Inactive Icons - Stopped Working

WinXp Pro SP2

I had the Hide Inactive Icons taskbar option set, and it was
working fine. Then I had a NTVDM lockup, and had
to power reset my PC. After that, the Hide Inactive Icons
was no longer working. I checked my Taskbar properties,
and it is set. The customize section has everything set to
"Hide when inactive".
I then disabled it, reset it, but it still does not
display the little round arrow, or hide my inactive icons.

How do I get this back?

Set one of the icons to hide always. The bar should be activated. When once
it is you can change that particular setting back.

Sometimes hiding one icon always helps to resolve the issue.

Right click a blank spot on the taskbar and choose Properties. If you wand
to unhide ALL icons uncheck the box to Hide inactive icons. If it's just
one or a few, click the appropriate Customize button. Click in the Behavior
column at the program and then click the down arrow and select the behavior
you want.
