When I am working in a confidential area of my program
(in this case QB's payroll), does windows have a way to
press a key to darken or hide the screen so no one can
see it?

"Mary"

There is no key to press to darken or hide the screen,
other than minimize or go and change your contrast
settings on your monitor.

Choose one of those. If it's that confidential turn your
screen away from prying eyes. Examples, towards the wall
where no one can get behind you.

Good Luck

Here's one suggestion that you might find useful. If you have MS Office
installed on your system, you can set up the Office shortcut bar to include
a button to start your screen saver.

If you don't want to use the Office Shortcut bar, then create a shortcut on
your desktop or start menu that runs OSA.EXE with the "s" switch:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA.EXE" -s

You will need to change the path if your Office is installed in a different
directory or path than the one I illustrated. You will want to select a
default screensaver that doesn't leave an image of the desktop up for people
to see.

And password protect the screen saver.

Hi Mary,

Either create a shortcut and place this into the target line:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\scrnsave.scr

Or use the Win key + L.

if you go to www.download.com they have shareware
versions of what your looking for. i for example
downloaded one that looks like a lightswitch on the
desktop. theres a bunch of variations just make sure it
doesnt include any spyware, same as with anything you
download.

There are new type lcd displays under develop and testing. The user must use
special glasses. Other people without glasses cannot get any information
from the display.
