LCD Screen Blacks Out

Guest

I am using Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop with Windows XP.

My laptop screen goes black after a few seconds its powered on. Once I press
fn+f8 key, the lcd screen comes back only for a few seconds and then
disappears.

I tried to do the, display properties->settings->display and change the
display from 1 and 2, still does no good.

Please help.

Thanks
Mario

This sounds a whole lot more like a Dell warranty or repair issue than an
XP issue....

click on start > run >
Powercfg.cpl

check to see if the
monitor is set to
time out too soon.

Since the mininum setting for any config in this applet is 60 seconds, it's
more than unlikely that this is the issue...

well, if it is set to
60 seconds, then this
means the monitor
will go blank after
60 seconds of inactivity.

if you set it to "never"
then the monitor will
never go blank.

then of course there
are all the times you
can select that are in
between the highest and
lowest times.

Read the OP's description...a few seconds usually means a whole lot less
than 60.
