hibernate..

i thought id try the hibernate feature.
so as to speed up the process of turning the pc back on.

now the pc goes into hibernate just fine.

its just that at some time later maybe 30 minutes, the pc re powers itself.

why is this?

could it be an external device such as my linksys router causing this.
(set to always connect).

all something else.

I'm not convinced that the two are directly related. It just may happen to
be a coincidence.

I once had a motherboard that provided one the ability to set 'Wake On'
events: amongst them was the ability to aloow the user to press a specific
key or any key on the keyboard. This would then 'turn on' the computer.

Now due to faulty capacitors being supplied to them in the first place, the
capacitors around the keyboard socket on the motherboard began to corrode and
caused the PC to switch on. Quickly this became worse and 'locked' the
keyboard so that no keystroke was transmitted. I was able to get a
replacement motherboard under warranty.

Now you should check in BIOS [read through the user guide] as to what
actions can be set to 'wake up' the PC. It can be the LAN - network adapter,
or Modem, or keyboard or mouse.

Make sure you 'switch' this off. It is not something set under Windows.
