Hello all

I have a new USB device at hi-speed but I do not have a hi-speed port. Warning notice says I can still use this device provided I add the hi-speed host controller. I have search for this in XP Help and Support but it is not showing. How can I do it?

Hello,

Does your computer has USB 2.0 ports ? That message is referring you have a USB 2 device connected in a USB 1.1 port... so you must change port to get full speed... If you don't know what kind of USB Ports you have you may check in Control Panel-System-Hardware-Device Manager and under Universal Serial Bus controllers if you don't have a reference to USB 2.0 or Enhanced USB then all you got in your computer is USB 1.1. If this is the case and you want to take advantage of full device speed you will have to buy a USB 2.0 Port PCI Card.. they are normally cheap cards and you just put it in your PC and you should stop receiving that message...

Buy a PCI slot USB 2.0 card and install it.

That implies you do not have a physical USB 2.0 controller chip on the
machine. Look for an add-on USB 2.0 plug in card - they are inexpensive
