I also the whole day yesterday driving around (I did almost 130 miles) helping my cousins son buy his first car. The kid has been doing research since last six months and it reached its climax last weekend when he decided to actually make the purchase.
The kid worked very hard and graduated from one of the best institutes in the US, UT Austin. He got his bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and landed a job a month ago. He was just waiting for his first pay check so that he could buy the car on his own.
Buying the first car is always something you remember for the rest of your life, including all the finer details. I was happy to be part of that process. During our tour we also had some fun trying out the Porsche 911 parked at the dealership with a price tag of 70,000 slightly used. We of course were not thinking of buying anything close to this.
The first car for many is a jaunty jalopy but not for him. He had a grand plan and a car which any new graduate would be proud to own as the first one. Having started at 10:30 in the morning, we ended up getting a beauty in the process and got back home at 7:30 PM.
As soon as we got home and his mom and sis saw the car we went for a spin and he was so generous, he offered me the keys with his mom (my cousin) sitting next to me and him in the back. I thought I got a kick in the butt when I stepped on the gas. LOL! He said this one does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds! I believed him. Its an 08 model with just over 8000 miles on it. Looking at the car it would be easy to fool anyone that it was new. Scratch-less and still smelling and looking like a new car. It made a quiet a dent in his pocket
Here is the link to the exact car we picked up.
The jaunty jalopy
This link may not work after Monday since the dealership will remove it as it is sold so also posted the pictures which would stay with the thread.
