Help!

I'm not sure if I've found the right newsgroup, but I'm
having some problems with my computer and was wondering
if anyone could give me some advice. The screen keeps
randomly freezing for about 20 seconds, and all programs
are slow to respond. I haven't recently installed
anything, my virus scan came up clean and the support
tech couldn't help me. Does anyone think they might have
an idea as to what could be causing this problem? I would

If you haven't already, I'd try running programs like Spybot and AdAware,
both available from download.com. They will remove any spyware or
adware that might be hijacking your system.
