HELP!!!

My Win2000 product ID or Certificate of Authenticity number is not working
and will not allow me to install it onto my laptop! Why is it doing that? I
know it's the right number becuase it came with the CD and I used it once
before but now that I'm installing it onto a new computer it's not working.
Can someone help me????
 
Is it an update CD & you have tried to do a complete fresh install or vice
versa?

Ironic really, but as we speak I am writing a program to read/decode the
Windows Product Code & the second part will allow the user to add in a new
serial whenever they wish. Its uncanny that you need something like this the
same time as I am writing it :))
