((** HELP! **)) XP Pro & NETSKY.C

I'm running Windows XP Pro and was apparently infected with the NETSKY.C
worm through my MailWasher program (that is where HouseCall has found it).
I can no longer search, run system restore, windows update, windows media
player and several other odds and ends. I need help. I didn't discover
this problem until I uninstalled an unknown program in "Add & Remove."

I've tried using the sfc.exe /scannow command, all that did was disable my
ATI drivers. Running Symantec's NETSKY Removal tool results in "no NETSKY
on your machine." HouseCall claims there are no more problems on my
machine. I had been running a Norton virus scanner (that did not detect
this virus) but uninstalled that in order to upgrade to the 2004 edition. I
can't do the upgrade either.

There has to be a way to restore function to these key Windows components
without having to do a full on wipe and re-load. Please, someone give me
some constructive advice.
