HELP XP Hangs when booting at logo screen

I have been unable to start windows XP for 2 days now.
When trying to start windows XP it stops/hangs when it
gets to the blue screen with the windows logo. I have
been unable to use the F8 key to try to go to a previous
workable setting. I do have 2 home computers networked
(both with XP) and have had no problems for 2 months. Any
ideas??

When you get to the logo screen, manually power the
machine off. I have had the same problem. If I do this
the next time I turn the computer on it goes to the
scandisk screen because it has not been shut down
properly. Try this, maybe it will help, If not sorry!
