help with unwanted email

I have been bombarded with unwanted emails that keep saying over quota
bounced emails and cannot block them.

Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so; how did you stop them??

By any chance, are the "Over Quota" notices coming from your email provider?
If so, then you need to take care of the problem by
a) deleting excess emails from the server (login via webmail to do so), and
b) prevent this from happening again in the future. Go to Tools, Accounts, select
the account, Properties, Advanced. Near the bottom, there is an option for
"Leave a copy of messages on server". If checked, you also need to choose one
of the two 'Remove' options.

Hi Gary,

Thanks so much, I did not realize that the web mail would hold the messages
like that...as a matter of fact, had never used that feature before with my
new windows Vista.

I did manage to get the messages deleted, but the box was NOT checked under
my advanced options, so have no clue why it kept them??

I really appreciate your help, and hopefully it will help others.

Webmail services are proprietary, meaning that every mail provider
has their own implementation and their own rules. Some, like Gmail,
have a setting where email copies are kept on the server in spite of
being downloaded. Check for 'Options' or 'Settings' when you go
online with your webmail.
