Help with Taskbar

ECLiPSE 2002

Somehow I messed up my taskbar.. What I had previously was only 4
icons to the right of the Start button with the rest hidden but
available via a drop down window. Now I have two taskbars - one with
18 icons and the other empty.
How do I get back to where I was with 4 icons visible in the taskbar
and the balance hidden.

Thanks for any assistance.

The "Task Bar" is the bar that begins with the button labled "Start" and
normally stretches over the bottom of the screen (although it can be moved
elsewhere). You only have one of them, and it's not possible to have two.

Are you asking about the "Quick Launch Bar"? The Quick Launch Bar contains
shortcut icons that can be used to start programs. It usually resides *on*
the Task Bar (although it too can be dragged off and moved elsewhere). It's
also only possible to have one Quick Launch Bar.

The size of the Quick Launch Bar is variable. You can make it smaller by
dragging the handle (the vertical bar) at the right end of it. If you don't
see a vertical bar, the Task Bar is locked. Right-click a blank part of the
Task Bar, uncheck "Lock the task bar" and resize the Quick Launch Bar. You
can then relock the Task Bar.

Thanks for the advice Ken - yes I was referring to the Quick Launch
Bar and your instructions corrected my problem. Somehow I did manage
to
create two task bars one above the other with some of the Quick Launch
Icons in both?

You're welcome. Glad to help.

That sound like you had a Task Bar that was two lines high, not two Task
Bars. The task bar is resizable, like a window. Put the cursor on the edge
and make it turn into a double-headed arrow. Then you can click and drag it
to the size you want.
