Help with remote assistance

H

Hank

I have two older friends that have very little computer knowledge and
are always getting into problems with their PC's. One is even in the
first stages of alzheimer's disease so she has a hard time remembering
the easiest steps like printing a document. As a result I get phone
calls for help and troubleshooting over the phone is quite
frustrating. I have tried several times to set up remote assistance
with them but had little success working them throught the steps. What
I would like is to put a single icon or simple step that I can ask
them to click on to open my access to their PC's. I have received
email like this from a computer shop. I just open the email and click
on it and the other end has access to my PC. I am fair with computers
but not good enough to work this out. Any help in setting this up
would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response. Been checking out teamviewer and it seems
to be what I need. Have downloaded the file to my main PC and my
remote networked laptop. Will do some tests later today and will let
you know how it goes.
Thanks again

Thanks for the tip. I tried it between two PC's in my house on a
wirelesss router. Worked great had full control. Finally got to try it
with one of the people I try to keep online with limited success. I
was able to see their screen and make a cursor on it BUT could not
control their PC. Any idea what I might have done wrong?

Yes he said he installed the same software and it was running. He
supoosedly gave me permission BUT this is one of the people that does
not know how to run a computer so he may not have installed it right
or gave me permission to full access. Is the default permission for
full access? Could Norton Internet Security Suite cause the problem?
Will try it again soon.
Thanks

Too quick on the finger here. Disable the scanning of Norton and check. Guaranteed
it is the Norton scanning engine doing it
