Help with Outlook Express

I have been having problems with Outlook Express for almost a week. I get shut out after a short time. I've run my virus scan--no virus. I checked for Sasser. Says I'm not infected. When I search for an update, I'm told there are no critical updates for my system. Help! What do I do now?
