Help with lost hardware devices

ECLiPSE 2002

On my Win XP home machine I have suddenly lost all hardware devices,
i.e., web cam, printer along with my Norton antivirus and SpySweeper
programs (which tell me I must reactivate).

When I attempt to open Device Manager the window is blank.

In addition I have lost all my System Restore points and cannot go
back to an earlier date?

Any suggestions on what I can do and what went wrong?
