P4 1.8, 256 RAM, WinXP Home, Internal Modem
Problem - machine connects using dialup with no problem - internet and
email both function normally. After 15 - 25 minutes, connectivity is
lost, but connection icon is still present, no disconnection message
appears, one computer in the connection icon still flashes when you
try to do anything, but sending or receiving results in could not
connect error and internet results in dns error.
Have to reboot to reestablish connection for another 20 minutes or so
then the same thing. I have checked the Internal Options and disabled
things like disconnect after checking email, disconnect after a period
of inactivity, change internet connections etc etc - they are all off.
I have looked at the Norton Anti Virus settings and they are all fine
and up to date with nor viruses or stranged settings requiring
intervention.
Firewall is disabled and there are no third party firewalls.
I am not sure where to start with diagnosis - any leads would be
appreciated.
