Internet disconnecting

Over the last week my internet connection has been disconnecting itsself for
no known reason. Connecting is fine, then after a random time it disconnects
(sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes 10 etc).
I have tried disconnecting other phone lines to see if power surges is the
cause - but this did not help
The icons on the PC tell me that the P_C is stil connected, but this is not
so as pages will not load. I hear a 'click' from the modem which tells me
that it has disconnected once again.
I have an up to date virus checker and adware software in place, so no known
virus problem.
Any idras please?

Hi,

How do your settings read here: IE/Tools/Internet
Options/Connections/Settings/Advanced/Disconnect when......
/taskbarplus!.htm

Hi Kelly
I had a look in that area and neither the boxes next to:
disconnect if idle for X
or
disconnect when connection may no longer be needed
are ticked

Do you have any more ideas please?

I read somewhere that a solution may be lowering the graphics acceleration a
notch - how do I do this?

You need to isolate the problem...as to either phone line problem...or
computer problem.

Take the computer to another location and dial in. And make SURE yer
dialing in on a DEDICATED line...or that ALL other phones that may be
on the line are disconnected from the wall jacks.

Good luck.

Have a nice one...
