Help with .art files and j-peg

When I right click a photo to save it, it always does so
in .art - my pc does not recognise this when I want to
view at a later date, how can I change settings so as it
does it in j-peg (I have tried drop down boxes and all
that offers me is bitmap as an alternative) ????
