Help with a TOC across documents and preserving hyperlinks

Ok, so here is what i am trying to do.

I have a large file that i manually split into 5 Volumes. I was able to set
up the page numbering and headering numbering, and using the {RD} field, was
able to make the TOC generate using all 5 volumes.

However, this new TOC, unlike the old, does not link to the documents (in
the old one of course, you could click any heading and be taken there). This
brings me to my question. Is there any way to get the hyperlinking back;
click on a heading, and have it open the document there?

Thanks!

Nothing built into Word, no. You'd have to create the
TOC and hyperlinks manually (or with the help of a macro).
