Help! Weird Outlook 2003 problem

B

Bobby

I recently had to re-install Outlook 2003 (clean install). It previously
worked OK (installed on top of OL 2002). I have a weird problem.

I set-up two e-mail accounts - one POP3 and one HTTP (Hotmail). Both
accounts appeared to set-up OK. The POP3 account tests perfectly.

But my folders do not synchronise when I start Outlook (they used to) and
*nothing* happens when I select "Send/Receive". It's as though I haven't
set-up any e-mail accounts.

*But* I can get my e-mail if I manually download headers (from the
Send/Receive menu), mark each message for download and then "process" the
headers.

I don't want to go through this carry-on. I just want to click on
Send/Receive and then get my POP3 e-mail.

I'm totally stumped about this. Any ideas?

Try checking....

Tools -> Options -> mail setup -> send/Recieve button

then select "All Accounts" and below that make sure you have a tick beside
the

"Include this group in send/recieve (F9)" or one of the other options
depending on your choice.

Thanks. But when I do this *nothing* happens. The selection does not respond
and I'm left with the Mail set-up menu. Any ideas why my Send/Receive does
not work?

I've fixed it. But what a weird one!

I remembered copying my "Application data" folder when I reformatted my HD
because I thought that that folder contained my old PST file (it doesn't).
So (I'm not sure why) I deleted the Outlook application data folder and
re-started Outlook - and - hey presto - my send/receive works! No idea why.
But it's working! Hurray!
