HELP! - Troubles with font installations

OK - I think I am pretty familiar with computer stuff and with the XP Home
Edition of Windows, but I am at a loss!! I have installed fonts no problem
before as well as uninstalling them. Now however, when I go to Control
Panel>Fonts, and open the folder to install a new one, I click on the file
tab and I only see "New" - which gives me a list of normal file tasks (e.g.
new: folder, Word Document etc.), and "Close." The "properties" is greyed
out, as well as all the other file index tasks. The strangest thing though
is that "install new fonts" does not even appear. When I go to "view", where
it normally gives you the option to view by similar fonts etc. - same
thing - I get a normal "View" tab list of Toolbars, Status Bar/Thumbnails,
Icons, List, Details etc.

When I try to uninstall a font - I get an "Access Denied" error message
which says to make sure the disc is not write protected or full.

I have never had this happen before - any suggestions as to what the HELL is
going on??
I would appreciate any thoughts - Thanks much!

This is a common problem, really! Nothing you did, usually, but you can
fix it:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;133725

Even though this article does not mention XP, following the instructions
for Win2000 (NOT Win9x) should cover all the possible causes & fixes.
