HELP!!! there is only one com port on my computer

recently a friend of my sisters "fixed" our computer. when we got it back i
could not hot sync my palm, scan using my printer/scanner/copier, and after
some searching, realized there are no usb, or com ports. how do i install
them? when i plug anything into the usb, it does not read it. HELP!

sounds like you dont have the drivers loaded. Try going to the control panel
then to system. go to the hardware tab and click the device manager button.
check the Other Hardware section and see if your USB controller is in there,
also look for anything that has an exclaimation point or red x on it. the
exclaimation point means the driver needs to be (re)installed usually, and
the red x means the device is disabled. if the hardware is disabled all you
have to do is right click and select enable. if it needs a driver installed,
go to the driver tab for the device and try the update driver button. Hope
