Help & support on windows xp, home edition

Any Help would be appricated:
My house got struck by lighting and had to chage my modem
and now I find that my help & support won't work. All I
get is web page can't be found or or web page having
problems. Everything seems to be working fine except for
that and for some reason can't get into my mail box in
yahoo.Also can't get into any windows updates. Thanks
