Help & Support Link in Start Menu

In the Start Menu, when I click on the Help and Support icon, a Windows Explore window opens. Somehow the link has been changed, or corrupted. I don't know if it's a virus that has done this. I haven't really used Windows XP on my desktop much recently, since installing XP as an upgrade in September. I did access Help and Support after installing XP, to get used to what it could do. I have found the actual .exe file for Help and Support in Windows\PCHealth\Binaries\HelpCtr.exe. I clicked on this file, and now I can launch the Help and Support Center. I created a shortcut to it on the desktop, so I can open the file any time; but I would like to know how to correct the link on the Help and Support icon in the Start Menu. Will I have to access the registry
Any suggestions appreciated

Hi Justin,

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2559a1f1-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}\Instance\InitPropertyBag]

It will look something like this (use as an example):

"CLSID"="{13709620-C279-11CE-A49E-444553540000}"
"command"="@shell32.dll,-12709"
"method"="ShellExecute"
"Param1"="http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp.htm"

1. Double click method - delete what is there and type in: Help
2. Delete Param1

Try Help and Support on the Start Menu.

Or run the undo on line 114
