PLEASE How can I enable IIS on Windows XP Home Edition? I cannot find
the service listed in the services list. Do I need to download a patch
or something? I am using Service Pack 1, by the way.

Thanks A Whole Lot.

Answered once already - I see you have posted it three times in this very
newsgroup...
I'll answer again.

You don't - even if you bothered to become current with Service Pack 2, you
are using the Home Edition of Windows XP - which does not come with (nor
run) IIS natively.

You can hack it - but if you did not know IIS did not come with Windows XP
Home and you are just getting around to trying this - you probably do not
have access to the necessary files.

IIS cannot be installed in XP Home. If you require IIS,
you'll have to purchase a "Retail Upgrade Version" of
Windows XP Professional and upgrade.

An upgrade to Windows XP Pro is a smooth transition and will not affect your
current programs or files if you use the following procedure:

1. Purchase a conventional "Retail Upgrade Version" [boxed] of Windows XP Professional.
2. Uninstall your antivirus program.
3. Perform a backup of your important documents and files to a CD, DVD, or other backup media.
4. Disconnect all hardware peripheral devices, except the monitor, keyboard and mouse.
5. While running Windows XP Home, insert the Windows XP Pro CD in the drive and select
the default "Upgrade" setup option. [Do not select "New Installation"]
6. Visit the Windows Update site to download all the critical updates.
7. Reinstall your antivirus program, then defrag your hard drive.
