My laptop can't start the rpc service when Windows XP(SP2) starts. So
it affects lots of services which depend on it. I try to restart it
again manually, but it return an error code 5 and the error message is
'Access is denied'. Also I see there are many errors created by the
program 'userenv' in the event viewer and the event id is 1500 . The
strange thing is Every 40 seconds, it will create a new 1500 error in
the event viewer. Please tell me how to fix it. Thank you in advance!

On the XP pro box I'm using at the moment (which is part of a domain, but
I'm not sure if that makes a difference). The service is set up to log in as
"NetworkService", I'm not sure about the password but I think it should be
blank. Worth checking that your setup is the same.

Failing that, are any errors logged in the event log when you try to start
the service?
